Program

Miniøya presents Bror
on Saturday, October 24. Buy tickets.

"Bror" is Eir Vatn Strøm's new musical universe for children, where traditional music meets a modern style.

The project stems from a desire to create children’s music with artistic depth, unpredictability, and musical curiosity—with lyrics that encompass a wide range of emotions and take children as listeners seriously. Bror also wants to create music that appeals just as much to parents as it does to children.

The musical tapestry is woven from both old folk tunes and modern electronic textures, and is performed with accordion, synthesizer, lyre, trumpet, electronics, and vocals. Like a patchwork quilt of heritage and innovation, Bror brings tradition and the contemporary together in an expression that feels both familiar and surprising.

In 2025, Strøm received the Kardemomme Scholarship, an award recognizing innovative work in children's music.

Eir Vatn Strøm - vocals, synth, lyre, and electronics. Kristina Fransson - trumpet and electronics. Emil Horstad - accordion.

Children under 2 years of age get free admission to the concert.

Miniøya presents Jonas Alaska
, Saturday, September 26. Buy tickets

Over the past year, Jonas Alaska has ushered in a new chapter in his career with his first songs in Norwegian—to rave reviews from both critics and audiences. Earlier this year, he followed up with his first album in his native language, opening the door to an even more personal and intimate musical world.

Several of the new songs have already become fan favorites, such as “Kjøre Hjem,” “Mamma og Pappa,” and “Ali Boulala.” Following the album’s release, Alaska embarked on an extensive tour and visited every nook and cranny of the country.

Jonas Alaska is considered one of the strongest songwriters of his generation in Norway, with unforgettable songs such as “October,” “If Only as a Ghost,” “In The Backseat,” and “Morning Light” in his catalog. He received three Spellemann nominations for his debut album and has since released seven more albums to rave reviews both nationally and internationally.

Alaska has a unique ability to put the familiar and relatable into words, and combined with an extraordinary knack for melody, he delivers high-quality songs. A concert with Jonas Alaska is also always spiced with humorous storytelling, and it’s something everyone should treat themselves to.

Children under 2 years of age get free admission to the concert.

Miniøya presents "Kniv & Gaffel"
Sunday, August 9, at 1:00 p.m. on the street outside Sentralen (free)

Somewhere between Odd Børretzen’s reflections, Karpe, and the atmospheric guitars of indie rock—you’ll find Kniv & Gaffel. The conceptual artist duo consists of actress, songwriter, and playwright Julia Sørensen and guitarist, songwriter, and composer Hans-Ole Sponberg Hansen. Since 2017, they have been creating poetic and political indie pop-rock about the problems of the inner and outer worlds—music that goes straight to your rock ‘n’ roll soul and up to your third eye. With their distinctive, sharp, and provocative lyrics in Norwegian, two-part harmonies, and rap—all wrapped in rich guitar and synth sounds—Kniv & Gaffel aim to carry on the tradition of political songwriting.

In addition to releasing a number of singles and music videos on Rohdos Records, Kniv & Gaffel has also made a name for itself on the Norwegian music scene with its lively and entertaining live performances. The band delivers an energetic and theatrical experience with a twinkle in their eye, raw vocal delivery, and playful interaction with the audience.

This event is part of “Summer at Sentralen” and “City Summer 2026.” Every weekend from June 20 to August 16, we invite children and families to enjoy free activities at Sentralen, including concerts, theater, storytelling, and other creative activities.
