Background of the project:
The cultural sector has experienced a significant brain drain in recent years as a result of rising costs, the pandemic, and cuts to cultural budgets. We at Miniøya saw an urgent need for a comprehensive recruitment effort in the event planning field.
In direct response to this, we launched the Miniøya Festival School in 2023. Through training and guidance in the practical and theoretical aspects of event planning, we aim to inspire and motivate future cultural professionals. We want to show that the cultural sector is an industry with exciting job opportunities and a great career choice—as well as a meaningful place to volunteer.
At the festival school, participants gain valuable insight into festival and event management through coursework and hands-on experience. The course content and practical components are tailored to the participants’ interests. We offer in-depth study of topics such as venue production, set design, health, safety, and the environment, communication and marketing, volunteer coordination, and more.
The program will be held in 2027 for the fifth consecutive year, with support from the Anthon Foundation and the Eivind Astrup Charitable Foundation.
